Before school and after school help is available upon request. I need a day in advance notice if a student would like to stay after school. In addition, lunch help is available upon request as well. Currently I am supervising during "C" lunch on Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's. If they would like to meet at lunch they can on Tuesday or Thursday with ADVANCED warning so I can plan accordingly.
Skill Assessments Your child will receive skill assessments every other week in science class. This will continue through the remainder of the school year. We have discussed as a staff the importance of skill packets. In science, we are assessment based. Your child's grade is determined upon tests, quizzes, projects, some labs and skill packets. These skill packets are just as important as a test or quiz. If you are in need of the distribution schedule of skill assessments, please visit "Skill Assessment" tabs above.
ZAP at JMS
Jefferson Middle School will hold a mandatory study hall for students who have not completed assignments on time. The program is called ZAP (ZEROS AREN’T PERMITTED). This program is to provide motivation for students to complete their assignments on time, meet their academic responsibilities, and stress the importance of school work in the mastery of learning objectives.
When a student does not turn in an assignment or has an incomplete assignment, he/she will be required to attend a ZAP session during their Time 2 Read class the following school day, unless the assignment is completed and turn in to the office with the ZAP form.
Power School Please be sure to visit the online Power School portal to view your child's progress in all of their classes. Please check their grades weekly to view all assignments graded. You can view ALL of the assignments in each class. If you click on the grade/percentage next to the subject/class, it will bring up all of the assignments completed or not completed for that specific class. If you have any questions on the grading please check the class information tab above for further information.
Grading Policy
Grades entered into Power School will use the following code for PRACTICE assignments: 0= Not Turned In "Incomplete"= Incomplete Assignment or Needs to be Corrected and Resubmitted for a better score "Checkmark" = Satisfactory Assignment/Complete
The Science Dept. at JMS has a 100% Assessment Grading Policy. Points/Letter Grades will be used for Assessments only. Assessments include tests, quizzes, projects and some labs.
Students must have ALL assignments turned in AND have 2's on all assignments to retake tests.
YES, they can retake tests!
